In 2019, the Berggruen Institute, an independent think tank, awarded Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg its annual $1 million prize for Philosophy and Culture, praising her as "a constant voice for justice, equal and accessible to all." She donated the winnings to dozens of nonprofits, including the Malala Fund. This being said, 20% of all proceeds from the sale of this original painting or prints will go directly to the Malala Fund. 🖤

Around the world, forces like war, poverty and discrimination prevent more than 130 million girls from getting an education. The Malala Fund, founded by Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, advocates for girls' stable access to free, safe and quality schooling.

I am so incredibly tired and feel behind on most everything. But, I’m up before the sun rises each morning and to bed well after everyone else in the house. What you don’t see are the 2 teenage kids who’ve been working remotely from home this entire week and my husband, who will be working from home through at least August 2021. My head is 🤯 and I feel like the “Juggle of Time” painting in these photos sums up my thoughts in a nutshell. 🤹🏼‍♀️ ⏳

But, we are healthy. So, I am thankful.

These two 36in. x 36in. mixed-media pieces on paper are complete!! This is the most fun I have had with a commission in a VERY long time. We discussed color and a few other elements, then she gave me full carte blanche to go for it. 🍃Now...which room, orientation and frames do you prefer? 1, 2 or 3? 🤔👇🏼

“Gramercy Park” (sold).

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was working near Central Park on 53rd & 5th in the Rolex Building and my husband, of just one year, was working on Wall Street. He called me after the 1st plane hit and told me that he thought a commuter flight had made a bad judgement call. We hung up. The second plane hit. All phone service went dead. I paced around the halls for about 30 minutes deciding what to do, looking for answers, feeling sick. I decided to run. I began running down 5th Avenue (no cars in site) in my business suit and heals towards our apartment which was on the 38th floor between 29th and Madison. I felt like I was the only one running towards the towers. I heard people screaming and they passed news that the Pentagon had just been hit. I was sure Manhattan was being attacked but my only thought was getting to our labrador who was in our apartment and finding my husband. Droves of people were all huddled around radios listening to the news, they gave me updates as I ran past them in a frantic mess. I continued to run. 24 blocks later, on the corner of the street, I see Walter with our dog, Chili. He was covered in ashes. He’d evacuated his building just as the towers collapsed. I will never forget.

This barn was designed to accommodate a guest suite, a workshop, and a large garage and is located in Wyoming. But...a girl can dream... 🤸🏻‍♀️this fitness room is where I imagine my easels and art studio. Light-filled and full of space to work on large pieces. Down the stairs, I imagine additional studio/gallery space and a workout room/steam shower. I picture it somewhere deep within the hills of Western North Carolina looking out at the Blue Ridge Mountains, close enough to a grocery store but far enough away from the hustle.

This is one of two 36” x 36” mixed-media paintings on paper. This is truly an ideal commission that lies within my current body of #AvantGarden works. At this point, I’m deep into layers of the second piece. Eventually, they will both hang on either side of a fireplace in a great room somewhere outside of Atlanta. In the 3rd photo, you can see my progress/process as well as my studio-mate in training. 🌿🐾

Artemis was the Olympian goddess of hunting, wild animals, children and birth. I painted and sold the original in 2013. Today, I’m embellishing a full-sized print of my original. This new embellished piece will be headed to Atlanta later this month! 🏹
